Overview
An Enhanced CDD (NFC) check reads the secure chip in a client's biometric passport and runs the same checks as a Standard CDD. Once the client has completed their submission, you review each section in the web app, including the passport and selfie images and the data read from the document.
Before you start
You need access to the Engage feature in Legl.
The general review steps (assigning a reviewer, adding comments, and marking as reviewed) are the same as for any Engage request.

How to review an Enhanced CDD (NFC) report
Open the Engage request. Go to Engage → Individuals, find the completed request, and click into it.
Move between sections. Use Application sections on the left: Basic information, Identity Verification (Proof of Identity, Biometrics, Identity Validation and, if requested, Proof of Address), Watchlist screening, Financial screening and Fraud check.
Review each section. Each section and each individual check shows a Clear or Consider status. Where a section is Consider, it shows the reason it was flagged.
Download the PDF report (optional). Click the arrow at the top of the request to open the PDF report for your records.
Proof of Identity
Confirms the passport chip data is genuine and has not been tampered with. Checks include Document Data Integrity, Country Certificate and Document Certificate.
The section shows the passport front, the passport portrait and the client's selfie, alongside the data read from the chip:
Personal: First name, Last name, Date of birth and Nationality
Document: Document type, Document number, Issuing country, Issuing date and Date of expiry
The Proof of Identity section also shows the verification status of the chip:
Read & Verify: fully verified using the issuing country's signing certificates.
Read & Partially Verify: limited verification because the country's signing certificates are only partly available.
Read Only: the chip was read but could not be verified.
No Chip: the passport has no chip and cannot be read.
The report also shows a GPG 45 identity confidence score.
Biometrics
Confirms the client's selfie matches the photo in the document and that a live person completed the check. Checks include Face Comparison, Visual Authenticity and Image Integrity.
Identity Validation
Validates the client's details against credit reference agencies and mortality registers. Checks include Address Validation, Date of Birth Validation, Identity Confirmed and Mortality Check. A breakdown under the checks shows the results, for example "Address Validated with (25) Credit Agencies" and "Mortality: Not on register of deaths".
This section can return Consider, for example if the address or date of birth could not be matched, or no sources were available.
Proof of Address (if requested)
If the request included Proof of Address, this section shows the uploaded document, the data extracted from it, and a verification breakdown. Checks include Image Integrity, Document Classification, Data Comparison and Source Integrity.

Watchlist screening
Watchlist screening works the same way as in any CDD report. What we checked lists PEPs, Sanctions, Warnings, Fitness & Probity and Adverse Media, each with a Clear or Consider status. If there are no matches, you will see No matches found.
If there are matches, the section shows how many there are and how likely each one is (for example, "6 matches: 3 medium, 3 low"), and a counter of how many you have reviewed. Matches are grouped by likelihood, such as Medium likelihood of match. For each match, select View details to compare it with your client, then select Match or Not a match.
The section also shows which screening profile was used, with a link to View settings.

Financial screening
Searches financial records for the client. The section shows:
County Court Judgments: the number of County Court Judgment matches found
Insolvency: IVA (Involuntary Agreement), DRO (Debt Relief Order) and Bankruptcy
Debt Collection Searches: matches found in the last 24 months
Linked Addresses: any other addresses linked to the client
Each search shows Clear or Consider. Expand a search to see the detail behind a result.
Fraud check
Identity fraud screening checks the client's identity against the National SIRA database. It includes National SIRA – Fraud check and National SIRA – Impersonation check. When no markers are found, each check shows Clear.
What happens next
Once you have reviewed all sections, mark the report as reviewed to move it from Ready for Review to Reviewed.
Confirmed watchlist matches remain under ongoing monitoring; dismissed matches are excluded.
Important information
The web app shows each section's status, its individual checks, and the passport and selfie images with the data read from the chip.
A Consider result flags something for closer review. It is not a fail; your firm decides the outcome using a risk-based approach.
Legl flags results but does not make the final compliance decision. If you are unsure about a result, refer to your internal Risk Policy or MLRO.
The general review steps (assigning a reviewer, adding comments, and marking as reviewed) are the same as for any Engage request.
