How to review Watchlist Screening results using AI-assisted review

Review a Watchlist Screening result or Ongoing Monitoring alert using AI-assisted review, from opening it to recording your decision.

Written by Ula Moyse-White

Overview

AI-assisted review analyses a flagged record against your client's known details, gives you a recommendation with the evidence behind it, and lets you record your decision. The same review experience is used in two places: a Watchlist Screening result on a CDD report, and an alert on the Ongoing Monitoring dashboard.

How you reach the result differs. What you see once the result is open, and how you record your decision, is the same in both.

Before you start

  • You need access to a completed Watchlist Screening check that has returned a Consider result.

  • To review a monitoring alert, Ongoing Monitoring must be enabled for the client before alerts are generated.

How to review a result using AI-assisted review

Open a Watchlist Screening result

  1. Go to Engage → Individuals

  2. Select the CDD report and click to Open

  3. View Full Report, or open the Watchlist Screening section of the CDD report.

  4. Results are grouped into High, Medium or Low likely hood of being a match, based on the strength of the data available.

  5. Click the match to open it, this will bring up a side draw with further information.

ℹ️ Important

Watchlist Screening profiles can be customised for your firm. To find out more, see:

Understanding individual monitoring settings

Read the recommendation

  1. Review the summary at the top of the result, including the client, the current status, the date of the last CDD check, and whether a PEP or sanction has previously been confirmed.

  2. Read the recommendation. AI-assisted review answers whether the flagged record is your contact, with a confidence level and a short reason.

Work through the supporting evidence

Work through the evidence behind the recommendation:

  • What was flagged, and what actually matched.

  • The full side-by-side comparison of the flagged record against your client's details. Where images are available, the match image is shown alongside the client selfie captured during the CDD application.

  • How the agent investigated, including the sources it reviewed and the web searches it ran. Open any source or search to verify it yourself.

Record your decision

  1. Scroll to the end of the side draw to record your decsion.

  2. Click Expand to add a comment to the result.

  3. Click Not a match or Match to complete the review.

ℹ️ Important

Ongoing Monitoring is initially turned on for all profiles within the results.

  • Ongoing Monitoring will be turned off for any profiles that you confirm are Not a match.

  • Ongoing Monitoring will remain turned on if you mark the profile as a Match.

What happens next

  • For a Watchlist Screening result, decisions and comments are saved and included in the final CDD report once the request is marked as reviewed.

  • Profiles marked as a match continue to be monitored through Ongoing Monitoring. Profiles marked as not a match are removed from Ongoing Monitoring, reducing unnecessary alerts going forward.

Important information

  • AI-assisted review is a decision-support aid. Your firm must still apply its own risk-based judgement to every result and record a decision for each one.

  • Nothing is closed automatically. A reviewer must confirm the outcome and complete the review.

  • A match against a PEP, sanctions, or watchlist source does not confirm that your client is on that list. Always review the full details before taking action.

  • Always document your reasoning when discounting a match, particularly for PEP or sanctions results. If you are unsure whether a match relates to your client, speak to your designated compliance officer or contact our Support team.
