Overview
When you send an Engage request, Legl automatically emails your client on your firm's behalf. This article explains each email your client will receive, what triggers it, and when it is sent.
Customising your Engage emails
You can customise the wording of the Engage information request and Engage information reminder emails from your Client emails settings.
If you do not customise an email, your client sees:
Your workflow's Getting started message, if the workflow has one set, or
Legl's default message, if the workflow does not have a Getting started message.
If you do customise an email, your client sees only the wording you have entered. The workflow's Getting started message is not automatically included, so add any welcome text you need directly in the customised email body.
ℹ️ Further guidance
Go to Settings → General → Client emails.
Under Engage emails, select the email you want to edit.
Update the Email body.
Select Save template.
See How to configure general settings for full guidance on editing this.
Request email
Your client receives this email as soon as you send an Engage request. The subject line reads: [Firm name] has requested information from you.
The email includes a secure link for the client to complete the request. It is sent immediately when the request is created.
ℹ️ Important
If your workflow doesn't have a Getting started message or a customised email, your client sees Legl's default request email:
Reminder email
If the client does not complete the request, Legl sends automatic reminder emails until they complete it or the request is closed. The subject line reads: Reminder - Information requested by [Firm Name]
By default, reminders are sent 1, 3, 7, 14, and 30 days after the request is sent, and you can delay when reminders start for an individual request.
Each reminder includes the same secure link as the original request email, and is sent from [email protected]. See How to enable reminders for Engage requests for how to manage this.
ℹ️ Important
Unless you have a customised email set, your client sees Legl's default reminder email:
Important information
All emails are sent from Legl on behalf of your firm. Your firm's name appears in the email content, but the sending address is [email protected].
Reminder emails are sent automatically once enabled — no action is required from your team to trigger them.
If a client email fails to deliver, Legl can notify your team. See What to do if an Engage email fails to deliver.
For Pay request, reminder, confirmation, and payment plan emails, see How Pay email notifications work.
