Overview
Automated reminders allow you to follow up with clients who have not completed an Engage request. When enabled, firm-branded reminder emails are sent automatically to prompt completion.
You can enable reminders when sending a new Engage request or update them on existing incomplete requests.
How to enable reminders when sending a new Engage request
Create your Engage request as normal.
When the request is ready to share, locate the Automated reminder settings section.
Ensure reminders are set to On (they are turned on by default).
If required, use the Start reminders dropdown to choose when the reminder schedule should begin.
Click Send Email to send the request via Legl.
Reminders will then be scheduled automatically.
ℹ️ Important
Reminders are only scheduled after switching them on and selecting Send Email.
If you use the Copy shareable link option only, reminders will not be sent.
Choosing when reminders start
By default, reminders begin 1 day after you send the Engage request using the Send Email button.
To delay when reminders begin:
Select the Start reminders dropdown.
Choose your preferred start timeframe.
Regardless of the delay selected, reminders will follow the same cadence:
1, 3, 7, 14, and 30 days (or until the request is completed or closed).
ℹ️ Important
If you would like to apply a firm-wide delay to reminder schedules, contact the Legl Customer Support team.
How to check how many reminders have been sent
You can review reminder activity in the request history.
Go to Engage in the left-hand navigation.
Open the relevant request.
At the top of the page, you can see:
Under Request history, you can review the full audit trail, including when reminder emails were sent.
How to enable or disable reminders for existing Engage requests
You can update reminders for any incomplete Engage request (status Created, Sent, or In progress).
Go to Engage.
Click View to open the relevant request.
At the top of the page, locate the reminders toggle.
Switch reminders ON or OFF as required.
Turning ON: reminders will be sent after 1, 3, 7, 14, and 30 days.
Turning OFF: no future reminders will be sent for that request.
What happens next
Once reminders are enabled and the request is sent via Send Email, reminder emails will automatically be issued according to the selected schedule.
Reminders will stop automatically when:
The client completes the request, or
The request is closed.
Important information
Reminders are only triggered when the request is sent using Legl’s Send Email button.
Firm-wide reminder delays must be authorised by a Legl Admin and apply to all requests sent from your Legl account.
