How firm user email notifications work for Engage

A guide to every email notification you receive as a firm user in Legl, including request completion, e-signature, compliance alerts, and monitoring updates.

Overview

Legl sends email notifications to firm users at key points across Engage, Risk Assessments, and Ongoing Monitoring. This article explains every notification you may receive as a firm user, what triggers each one, and how to configure them.

Engage notifications

Engage request completion

The assigned reviewer receives an email notification when a client completes an Engage request. The email includes a direct link to the completed request in Legl.

The reviewer is set when the Engage request is created and can be updated from within the request.

MLRO email

A configured MLRO email address can receive a copy of completed Engage requests. Your firm admin can set this to trigger for all completed requests or only for those with a Consider result.

The MLRO email address and trigger settings are configured in Settings > Engage.

Email bounce notification

If a client email fails to deliver, Legl notifies the fee earner and/or the assigned reviewer, depending on how your firm admin has configured the notification settings in Settings > Engage.

E-signature counter-signing notification

If you add yourself as a counter-signer on an Engage e-signature request, you receive an email notification once the client has completed their signature and it is your turn to sign. The email includes a direct link to the document.

This notification is only sent when you have been added as an additional signer during request setup. It is not sent if you sign the document before sending it to the client.

Targeted compliance signal notifications

Firm admins can configure email alerts for high-risk compliance signals, so compliance teams receive direct notifications without relying on fee earners to surface them. Alerts can be sent to any email address, including a shared compliance inbox.

The following alerts are available, configured in Settings > Engage under Targeted compliance signal notifications:

  • PEP and sanctions alert — sent when a new potential PEP or sanctions match is identified for a client

  • High-risk country alert — sent when a contact in a high-risk country is identified, on initial onboarding or via Ongoing Monitoring

Ongoing Monitoring notifications

Monitoring alert assignment

When a company monitoring alert is assigned to you, you receive an email notification with the alert details and a direct link to the monitoring dashboard. This applies whether the alert is assigned to you individually or as part of a bulk assignment.

Weekly monitoring summary

Firms using Ongoing Monitoring receive a weekly summary email every Monday. This is sent to the configured MLRO or Head of Compliance address and covers outstanding alerts, monitoring coverage, and recent activity.

Important information

  • The Engage request completion notification is sent to the assigned reviewer only, not to the fee earner who created the request.

  • The e-signature counter-signing notification is only sent when you have been added as an additional signer during request setup. Signing before your client does not trigger a notification.

  • Targeted compliance signal notifications can be sent to multiple recipients, including shared inboxes.

  • The monitoring alert assignment email is sent each time an alert is assigned to you, whether assigned individually or in bulk.

  • The weekly monitoring summary is only available for firms using Ongoing Monitoring.

  • Notification settings are managed by firm admins in Settings > Engage. Fee earners cannot configure their own notification preferences.
