How to review a monitoring alert for individual clients

How to review an Ongoing Monitoring alert for an individual client using AI-assisted review, from the dashboard to Mark as reviewed.

Written by Ula Moyse-White

Use the Ongoing Monitoring dashboard to find and review alerts raised for your individual clients. When you open an alert, AI-assisted review presents a recommendation and the supporting evidence, so you can decide whether the flagged record relates to your client and record your decision.

Before you start

  • Ongoing Monitoring must be enabled for the client before alerts are generated.

How to review a monitoring alert

  1. In the left-hand navigation, select Ongoing Monitoring.

  2. On the dashboard, find the alert you want to review. You can search by client name, or use the filters for status, alert type, alert category, reviewer, and when the alert was received. The summary cards at the top show your outstanding alerts by category.

  3. Select an alert marked Ready for review to open it.

  4. Review the summary at the top of the alert, including the client, the current status, the date of the last CDD check, and whether a PEP or sanction has previously been confirmed.

  5. Read the recommendation. AI-assisted review answers whether this is your contact, with a confidence level and a short reason.

  6. Work through the supporting evidence: what was flagged, what actually matched, the full side-by-side comparison, and how the agent investigated, including the source it reviewed and the web searches it ran. Open any source or search to verify it yourself.

  7. To pass the alert to a colleague, select Assign reviewer, choose the person, add an optional comment, and confirm. You can also assign several alerts at once by selecting them on the dashboard and using the bulk actions.

  8. Add a review comment to record your reasoning.

  9. Mark whether the flagged record is your client using Match or Not a match.

  10. Select Mark as reviewed to complete the review.

What happens next

Once you mark the alert as reviewed, its status updates on the dashboard and your comment is retained as part of the audit trail. If the business relationship with a client has ended, you can use Stop monitoring on the alert to stop future checks for that client.

Important information

  • AI-assisted review is a decision-support aid. You must still apply your firm's own risk-based judgement to every alert.

  • Alerts are not closed automatically. A reviewer must confirm Match or Not a match and select Mark as reviewed.

  • A match against a PEPs, sanctions, or watchlist source does not confirm that your client is on that list. Always review the full details before taking action.

  • If you are unsure whether a match relates to your client, speak to your designated compliance officer.
