What is Ongoing Monitoring for individual clients?

Ongoing Monitoring automatically checks your individual clients against PEPs, sanctions, and watchlists every day and alerts you to changes.

Written by Ula Moyse-White

Ongoing Monitoring keeps your client due diligence current by running daily checks on individual clients against PEPs lists, sanctions lists, and hundreds of other data sources. When a change is detected, Legl generates an alert so your compliance team can review it and record any action taken.

What you can use Ongoing Monitoring for

  • Run daily automated checks on clients against PEPs lists, sanctions lists, and watchlists

  • Receive alerts when a client's risk profile changes

  • Review and action monitoring updates directly in Legl or via the link in your weekly summary email

  • Assign a reviewer to manage and action monitoring alerts for specific clients

  • Whitelist matches you have confirmed do not relate to your client, reducing noise in your monitoring dashboard and keeping your compliance reporting accurate

  • Turn off monitoring for clients where the business relationship has ended

How Ongoing Monitoring works

Legl runs daily automated checks on each monitored client against a wide range of data sources, including politically exposed persons (PEPs) lists, sanctions lists, and adverse watchlists.

If a match or change is detected, Legl generates an alert and notifies the relevant compliance contact by email. Your team can then review the alert, record any action taken, and update the client's risk status directly in Legl.

A weekly summary email is also sent to the designated compliance contact, giving a consolidated view of monitoring activity across all monitored clients. You can update which email address receives these alerts in Monitoring Settings.
