Overview
Once a client has completed a Qualified Electronic Signature (QES) signing request, a copy of the signed document and its audit receipt are available to review and download from the Engage request in Legl. This article explains how to find the completed document, check the signing status, and download the signed file and receipt.
Before you start
The client must have completed the full QES signing journey, including identity verification, before the signed document is available.
You need access to the relevant client or matter in Legl.
How to review a completed QES document
In Legl, open the Engage request that included the QES step, from the relevant client or matter.
Find the Qualified E-signature step within the request.
Check the status shown next to the signer:
Once the status shows Signed, download the files. You can download a copy of the signed document and the audit receipt individually from the links on the step, or download both together in one zip file using the Download button.
What happens next
The audit receipt confirms the document was successfully signed and provides a record of the transaction. It shows that the document was signed through Signhost and includes the transaction ID, the created date and time, a reference, the filename, the number of pages, and a document hash.
You can download a copy of the signed document and the audit receipt at any time for your records or to share with the relevant parties.
Important information
A copy of the signed document and the audit receipt remain available to view and download from the Engage request, individually or together as a single zip file.
The audit receipt is issued through Signhost and confirms the signature with a transaction ID, timestamp, reference, filename, page count, and document hash.
QES documents are legally equivalent to a handwritten, witnessed signature under UK eIDAS, and are accepted by HM Land Registry for property charges, transfers, and assents.
If the completed document is not visible, check that the client has finished the full signing process including identity verification. If it is still unavailable, contact our Support team.
