Overview
When a client completes a Qualified Electronic Signature (QES) request, they verify their identity before signing. The identity documents that can be accepted depend on the country that issued them, so the accepted list is not the same for every client.
The QES flow always shows each client the documents accepted for their country.
When a client selects their country, the flow displays the exact list of accepted documents for that country. That in-flow list is the authoritative and always current source, so it is the best place to check what a client can use.
ℹ️ Further guidance
This article covers the documents accepted for QES identity checks. For the separate country-by-country list used for standard identity verification, see Accepted ID documents by country.
How clients see the accepted documents
In the QES flow, the client selects the country that issued their identity document. The flow then shows the documents accepted for that country. If a client is unsure what to provide, the answer is always to select their country in the flow and use the list shown there.

If a valid document is not accepted
If a client believes their document is valid but the flow returns an "unacceptable document" message, take a screenshot of the message and contact our Support team so we can raise it with the verification provider.
