Overview
When you send an Engage request or a Pay request, Legl automatically emails your client on your firm's behalf. This article explains every email your client will receive, what triggers each one, and when it is sent.
Engage emails
Request email
Your client receives this email as soon as you send an Engage request. The subject line reads: [Firm name] has requested information from you.
The email includes a secure link for the client to complete the request. It is sent immediately when the request is created.
If your workflow includes a custom message, this will appear in the request email your client receives. You can add or edit a custom message in How to create a workflow.
Reminder email
If the client does not complete the request, Legl sends automatic reminder emails based on the reminder schedule configured in your Engage settings. Each reminder includes the same secure link as the original request email.
Pay emails
Payment request email
Your client receives this email as soon as you send a Pay request. The email notifies them that your firm has sent a payment request and includes a secure link to complete the payment. The amount due is shown in the email.
This is also the email clients receive when a payment plan is first created.
Payment reminder email
If the client does not complete the payment, Legl sends automatic reminder emails based on the reminder schedule configured in your Pay settings.

Payment confirmation email
Your client receives a confirmation email once their payment has been successfully processed. This confirms the amount paid and serves as their receipt.
Payment plan emails
Clients on a payment plan receive the following automated emails:
Your next payment is due soon β sent ahead of an upcoming scheduled payment to remind the client that a payment will be taken.
Action required: Your payment was unsuccessful. β sent if a scheduled payment fails, prompting the client to take action.
Important information
All emails are sent from Legl on behalf of your firm. Your firm's name appears in the email content, but the sending address is a [email protected].
Reminder emails are sent automatically β no action is required from your team to trigger them.
If a client email fails to deliver, Legl can notify your team. See What to do if an Engage email fails to deliver.
