ℹ️ Phase 2 of 4 — Module setup / Pay
You are setting up Pay.
Not using Pay? Skip to Launch Phase 2: How to configure your Engage settings.
Setting up Pay involves three parts: registering with Adyen (the payment processor that handles all card transactions), completing Volt registration if your firm is using Pay by Bank, and configuring your Pay settings in Legl. Most firms complete all three in a single session.
Card payments processed through Legl are handled by Adyen, a regulated payment service provider. All card payments are PCI DSS compliant and client funds are held in a segregated account before being transferred to your firm. You do not need to handle card data directly.
Before you start
You need admin permissions in Legl to access Pay settings
Have your firm's registered address, business information, and bank account details to hand. You will need these for Adyen registration.
Adyen registration must be fully approved before your firm can accept card payments. Your Launch Manager will confirm when you are active.
If your firm is using Pay by Bank, have your KYC documents for Volt registration ready. See the Volt registration section below for the full list.

How to configure Pay settings
In Legl, navigate to your Pay settings.
Select Bank accounts and add the firm bank account where client payments will be deposited. You will need your account name, sort code, and account number.
Review your Payment methods. Enable or disable American Express, international cards, and Payment Plans based on your firm's preferences. Card payments are enabled by default.
Review your Checkouts settings. Configure how the client-facing payment page is presented, including any reference field requirements.
Check your payment limits. You can adjust limits for card, phone, and bank payments, including a separate limit for the payment portal if needed.
Send a test payment to confirm everything is working before go-live. Your Launch Manager can guide you through this step if needed.
Important information
Adyen registration must be fully approved before your firm can accept card payments. Do not go live with Pay until you have received confirmation from your Launch Manager.
Bank account details can be updated in Pay settings at any time. Changes take effect immediately for future payments.
Disabling a payment method removes it from the client payment page. Clients will only see the methods you have enabled.
Payment Plans allow clients to split payments into instalments. Enable this only if your firm has agreed to offer this option to clients.
Before you move on
Your Adyen account has been activated and confirmed by your Launch Manager
Your firm bank account is connected in Pay settings
You have reviewed and confirmed your payment method preferences
You have completed a test payment to confirm everything is working
