Legl is integrated directly into your Unity (NebuLAW) platform, which is built on Salesforce. This means you can run Know Your Client (KYC) and Know Your Business (KYB) checks without switching between systems.
The integration is API-based, so checks can be initiated, tracked, and reviewed from within your existing Unity (NebuLAW) workflow.
ℹ️ Tip
Unity (NebuLAW) is a legal practice management system built on top of Salesforce. If you are using Unity (NebuLAW), you are working within a Salesforce environment that has been customised specifically for law firms. Legl connects to Unity (NebuLAW) via the Legl API, which has been integrated by the Dye and Durham team.
To set up the integration, contact your Dye and Durham account manager and provide them with an API key generated in Legl. See How to set up the Legl API for step-by-step guidance.
What this integration covers
This integration supports the following modules:
KYC (Know Your Client): initiated from within Unity (NebuLAW), with results returned to the client record in Unity (NebuLAW) and to Legl
KYB (Know Your Business): initiated from within Unity (NebuLAW), with results returned to Legl and a link back from Unity (NebuLAW)
Pay (Payment requests): not available in Unity (NebuLAW)
ℹ️ Important
While some results are returned directly into Unity (NebuLAW), we recommend reviewing the full KYC and KYB reports within the Legl platform for the most complete view. You will receive a notification from Legl when a report is ready.
How the integration works at a high level
The integration runs over the Legl API, which has been built into Unity (NebuLAW) by the Dye and Durham team.
At a high level:
A user initiates a KYC or KYB check from within a client or matter record in Unity (NebuLAW)
Client or business details are passed to Legl automatically. No manual data entry is required
Legl runs the check in the background
Results are returned to Unity (NebuLAW) and are also available in Legl for full review
When you would use this integration
Firms typically use the Legl and Unity (NebuLAW) integration:
During client onboarding to verify the identity of individual clients
When verifying the identity and background of a business entity, including sanctions screening
When compliance teams need a single workflow that combines practice management and identity verification
When firms want to keep client records and compliance reports aligned in their existing Salesforce-based system
Where to find this in Unity (NebuLAW)
The Legl KYC and KYB options are accessible from within client and matter records in Unity (NebuLAW). The exact placement depends on how your firm has configured the Salesforce environment.
ℹ️ Important
Unity (NebuLAW) is built on Salesforce, which is highly configurable. If you want to change how or where results are displayed, or adjust the workflow, this requires changes to the Salesforce configuration and should be done with the support of the Dye and Durham team. The Legl API connection itself is also configurable by Dye and Durham.
Key things to be aware of
Pay (payment requests) is not available through the Unity (NebuLAW) integration
KYB results are reviewed in Legl, not within Unity (NebuLAW). Unity (NebuLAW) provides a link and a summary, but for full review, compliance sign-off, and audit purposes, always access the report through Legl
Configuration of the Unity (NebuLAW) interface is owned by Dye and Durham. Legl provides the API connection
Legl provides automation and identity verification, but compliance decisions remain the responsibility of the firm
