Overview

Bulk Upload allows you to import your existing business clients into Legl en masse without any complex data migration. Once imported, Legl will complete an initial business sanctions screening and enrol each business entity into ongoing monitoring.

Use this when you need to add a large number of existing business clients to Legl at once, rather than onboarding them individually.

Before you start

  • Download and use the CSV template provided — the file will be rejected if it is not in the correct format.

  • Decide who in your firm should be set as the reviewer for all sanctions monitoring updates and screenings.

  • You will need to communicate this to the Legl Support team before submission.

  • You can change the reviewer manually in Legl after the upload is complete.

How to complete a business bulk upload

  1. Download the CSV template and populate it with your business client data.

  2. Ensure the following required fields are completed for every row:

    • Company name (Required)

    • Registration number (Required)

    • Country ISO code (Required) — must be the 2-letter ISO Alpha-2 format

    • Client reference (Optional)

    • Company type (Optional)

    • Company address (Optional)

  3. Check your file meets the formatting requirements (see below).

  4. Send the completed CSV file to [email protected] along with the name of the reviewer you would like assigned.

ℹ️ Important

The more data you provide, the more likely Legl will be able to find a match. Accurate Country ISO codes are particularly important — they play a critical role in successfully matching business data.

CSV file requirements

To ensure your file is accepted, check the following before submitting:

  • Column headings must be in the exact format shown in the template

  • Country codes must be 2 letters and valid according to the ISO Alpha-2 Standard

  • Company name, Company Registration Number, and Country ISO are mandatory fields and must be completed for every row

  • Optional fields should be left blank if you have no data — do not leave them populated with placeholder text

What happens next

Once the Legl Support team receives your file:

  • They will process the upload on your behalf.

  • Processing time can vary from a few minutes to several hours, depending on the size of the file and platform activity.

  • The Support team will notify you once the upload is complete.

  • You will then be able to review the uploaded business contacts in in Engage > Businesses and the Contacts page.

If a business already exists in your Legl contacts, monitoring will be started for that entity. If it is the first time the business has been added, a new business entity will be created.

Important information

  • If Legl cannot find a match for a company registration number via Dun & Bradstreet, a member of the Support team will be in touch to help resolve the issue, including checking that the information provided is correct.

  • If all information is correct but no match is found, you will have the option to proceed and create a business entity manually and run a sanctions screening if required.

  • One reviewer is set for all uploaded businesses. You can change the reviewer manually in Legl after the upload is complete.
