How long do Engage checks take to complete?

Understand how long a client takes to complete their Engage request and how long checks take to process, including what can cause delays.

Overview

The full timeline for an Engage request has two parts: the time your client takes to complete the request, followed by the time it takes for checks to process automatically after submission.

Typical timeframe

Client completion

Completing an Engage request usually takes a client 5โ€“20 minutes. The exact time depends on the number of steps the law firm has configured for the matter.

Check processing

Checks are usually completed within 1โ€“2 minutes of the client submitting their request. In some cases, if further lookups are required, checks can take up to a few hours.

What can affect how long this takes

A common reason a check may remain in processing is the use of a scan or photo of a printed image when uploading an identity document. Both firm users and clients should avoid scans and photos of printouts where possible. Using a live photo of the original document helps ensure accurate identity verification results.

What happens during this time

Checks run automatically after the client submits their request. You do not need to take any action while a check is in progress.

How you will know it is complete

You will receive an email notification when the check has completed and is ready for review in your Legl account.
