Overview
Legl Assist answers some Risk Assessment questions from checks your firm has already run in Legl. Every answer is a suggestion. The fee earner reviews it, can change it, and stays responsible for the assessment. This guide lists the questions Legl Assist can answer and where each answer comes from.
How Legl Assist answers a question
You publish a template. Legl reads each question's wording and answer type and matches it to an answer it can fill in. Matched questions show a Legl Assist icon in the template builder, and an AI-Auto populate tag at the top of Edit question.
A fee earner starts an assessment. Legl fills in the matched questions straight away.
Each filled answer shows where it came from, for example "Legl Assist sourced this from the client record", with a View link to that record. Where there is no Source of Funds check for the client, the line reads "Legl Assist found no Source of Funds check for this client" and has no View link.
The fee earner reviews the answers, edits them if needed, and submits. A filled answer is scored like any other answer.
On reassessment, Legl only suggests a new answer where a check completed since the last assessment gives a different answer. Edits the fee earner made stay as they are.
When a question is left blank
Legl Assist leaves a question blank when it cannot give an answer. This is when that happens and what you will see.
The check is missing, not complete, or older than the last assessment
The question type isn't one that answer supports. Multiple choice and confirmation tick box questions are never filled in
None of the template's answer options fits what Legl found
The assessment covers more than one contact
A blank answer shows no icon and no source line, so the fee earner answers it by hand

Ask for the score and the band in two separate questions, because one question asking for both may not be filled in. A higher score means lower risk.
Getting the new questions on your template
Legl does not re-map templates that are already published. A template picks up the new questions when you republish it.
To stop a question being filled in, open it in the template builder and tick Disable AI auto-population in Edit question. The tick box reads: "When enabled, this question will not be filled in by AI and must be answered manually."
This is separate from the Autopopulate tab for ActionStep, which maps questions to ActionStep fields.
Important information
Answers from Legl Assist are suggestions. Review each one before you submit the assessment.
The fee earner stays responsible for the assessment and what it says.
A filled answer is scored like any other answer, so it can affect the risk score.
Templates that are already published need republishing to get the new answers.
