Overview
Custom monitoring is where your firm sets what clients are screened and monitored against. It holds the settings for individuals and businesses, and who receives monitoring alerts.
These settings apply when clients are screened at onboarding, as well as during ongoing monitoring. Legl screens against every list by default, so tuning these settings means your team only reviews the results your risk policy says matter.
Custom monitoring is not a new feature. Your monitoring settings have moved from Settings to Governance, and nothing you set up before has changed.
What you can use Custom monitoring for
Choose which screening categories apply to individuals: sanctions, politically exposed persons, warnings, fitness and probity, and adverse media
Set the screening profile for businesses, and which company registry changes raise an alert and at what priority
Preview how a change would affect the number of results your team needs to review, before you save it
Choose who receives the monitoring alert summary, and whether new alerts are assigned automatically
See who changed each setting, and when
How Custom monitoring works
Custom monitoring has four tabs:
Overview: a summary of each settings area, with links to the guides, and Configuration versions, which shows the version each set of settings is on, when it last changed and who changed it.
Individual: the default screening categories used when screening and monitoring individuals.
Business: Business screening, the default screening profile for businesses, and Company monitoring, which company changes create alerts and their priority.
Configure: Alert emails, who receives a summary of new monitoring alerts, and Alert assignment settings, whether new alerts are assigned automatically.
On the Individual and Business tabs, the Settings impact analyser previews what the current settings would send for review. Change a setting, run it again and compare how much your team would need to triage.
Every change is versioned. Select Version history on a settings card to see who changed which setting and when, with the previous and new value.
ℹ️ Further guidance
The Overview tab also shows an example of how screening results are filtered by your risk policy. This is example data, not your firm's settings.
