This guide explains what the Legl Zapier integration does, what you'll need, and how to set it up.
What you can automate
The Legl app on Zapier starts ("triggers") an automation whenever one of these happens to an Engage Request in Legl:
Trigger | Fires when… |
Engage Request Created | A new Engage Request is created in Legl |
Engage Request Ready for Review | An Engage Request reaches Ready for Review |
Engage Request Reviewed | An Engage Request has been reviewed |
When a trigger fires, Zapier can carry out an action in another connected app. For example:
Engage Request Reviewed in Legl → Create a Matter in LEAP (and create/update a Matter).
Add a fee to a Matter, or save Legl documents into the destination system using the document download URL Legl provides.
The available actions depend on the other platform's own Zapier app, not on Legl.
What you'll need
A Zapier account (any plan that supports the apps you want to connect - we recommend at least Professional tier).
A Legl API key — generate this yourself in Legl under Settings → Integrations (you can also set, update and remove webhooks and regenerate your key there).
A Zapier-connected account for the platform you want to send data to (e.g. LEAP).
How to set it up
In Zapier, create a new Zap and search for Legl as the Trigger app.
Choose your Trigger event: Engage Request Created, Ready for Review, or Reviewed.
Connect your Legl account using your Legl API key.
Add an Action step and choose the destination app (e.g. LEAP). Search Zapier for the app to see which Actions it supports.
Map the fields from the Legl Trigger to the destination action (e.g. client name, matter reference, document URL).
Test the Zap and turn it on.
How do I know if my other software connects to Legl?
Search for it on Zapier. If the app is on Zapier and offers the actions on the destination app you need (for example, "create a matter" or "create a contact"), you can connect it to Legl. Because the available actions are defined by each platform's own Zapier app, it's worth checking the destination app's actions to confirm it does what you need.
Good to know
The integration is one-directional: a Legl event Triggers an Action in the other platform. It doesn't currently launch Legl from another system.
Legl provides the Trigger and the data; the destination platform provides the Actions. We don't have a direct relationship with those platforms, so always confirm capability on Zapier.
