Overview

An Engage request is what you send to a client to securely collect information, documents, and complete compliance checks in Legl. It brings together workflows, client inputs, and verification steps into a single, trackable request. Engage requests are typically used by law firms when onboarding new clients or completing ongoing KYC and AML requirements.

What you can use an Engage request for

You can use an Engage request to:

  • Onboard new clients in a structured and consistent way

  • Collect client information, documents, and signatures securely

  • Run KYC and AML checks, including identity, sanctions, and source of funds checks

  • Share documents such as Terms of Business or engagement letters

  • Track client progress through required onboarding and compliance steps

  • Reduce manual follow-ups by guiding clients through a clear process

How an Engage request works

An Engage request is built using a workflow that defines which steps a client must complete. Once a workflow is selected, the request is sent to the client, who is guided through each step in order.

Depending on the workflow, this may include submitting personal details, uploading documents, completing forms, providing source of funds information, or undergoing identity and AML checks. Results and submitted information are returned to Legl and made available for firm users to review in one place.

Where to find Engage requests in Legl

Engage requests are created and managed within the Engage area of the Legl platform. Once workflows are set up, they are available for selection when creating a new Engage request to send to a client.

Permissions and access

Engage requests are part of Legl’s Engage product. Workflows used to create Engage requests can only be created or managed by users with Administrator access, while other users may be able to send and review requests depending on their role.

Important information

Important:

  • Engage requests rely on workflows, which must be set up in advance before they can be sent to clients.

  • The checks and steps included in an Engage request depend on the workflow selected, such as Basic CDD, AML-only, or CDD with Source of Funds.

  • Engage requests are designed to support compliance with regulatory requirements, including KYC and AML obligations.
