Legl phone payments allow you to take a payment over the phone without needing a physical card terminal or staff in the office. Make it easy for all types of clients to pay - whether online or over the phone. We send email confirmations whenever a payment is made, so your client always has a record and isn’t left in the dark.
How to take a phone payment?
Click Take Phone Payment at the top of your Payments dashboard.
While on the phone with the customer collect their email address and full name in the Contact Details section. If the client has paid you through Legl before their contact details will be saved, so the system will prompt you to select your client's contact details.
Note: If your client doesn't have an email address you can enter your own or your firm's finance email so you can post them their receipt if required.
Next, enter the amount due, along with a clear invoice reference, and corresponding matter reference and confirm the account the payment should made to.
Finally you can read the suggested script to your client over the phone prior to taking their card details and processing the payment.
Simply read out the text, then request the customer reads out the long card number, the expiry date and the three digits on the back of the card (4 digits on the front of the card if American Express) and the postcode associated with the card.
Click the Pay button and that’s it, the payment is processed! 🙌
If the phone payment is above your firm's limit then get permission from your administrator to contact Legl and ask us to increase the limit for your account.
