In this article we will cover:

What is a Pay Request link?

A Pay Request link allows you to specify how much the client needs to pay, and pre-fill their details (name, email address, reference number(s)) - reducing friction for your client when making a payment, and making tracking and reconciliation easier.

Using our Pay Request tool, you can quickly create a specific checkout link for each of your clients which you can send to them when you are requesting a payment.

The client then clicks the link, enters their card details and pays the requested amount. Simple! You can see successful payments in real time via your Legl Dashboard, and funds are transferred directly to your account within 3 working days.

How do I send a pay request to a client?

1. Log into your dashboard (account.legl.com). Access the Payment Requests screen and choose “Create payment request”

  • In your Legl Dashboard, click "Payments" and choose "Payment Requests" from the left hand menu

  • Click "Create Pay request", in the top right hand corner of your screen, to send a new payment request to your client

2. Complete the brief form with your client’s details and the amount you want them to pay

  • Fill in your client's information, as required

  • If your client is already a contact in your law firms database, you will see the option to auto-fill their details

3. Enter the payment information relevant to that client, along with any comments you may wish to add. Then press "Create Payment Request"

4. Send the Payment Request to your client

  • The system creates a hyperlink which is specific to that client and contains all of the details entered on the previous screen.

  • This can be emailed directly to your client via a firm-branded, automated email from within the Legl platform.

  • Click Send Email to share the payment request with your client. You can also enable automated client reminders when sending payment requests to send reminder emails after 1, 3, 7, 14 and 30 days, or until the payment is made.

  • Alternatively, click Copy shareable link to paste the Request link into the body of your email to the client.

5. When your client receives the email and clicks the link, they visit a payment page specific to them, with all the details pre-filled - please see an example page below

  • The page is branded to match your firm

  • The details are pre-filled for your client and cannot be edited

  • All the client needs to do is:

    • Press "Agree and Continue" to agree to Legl's terms and privacy policy

    • Enter card details

    • Click "Pay"
