Overview
Setting up the Clio Manage integration connects your Legl account to Clio Manage. An Admin in Clio sets it up first. Each other user then connects their own Clio account, so they can start checks from Clio.
Before you start
You are an Admin in Clio, with permission to add apps. Only an Admin in Clio can complete the first setup, because it adds the Legl custom fields and the Legl option to contacts in Clio.
Your Clio Manage account is hosted in Europe (EU) or Australia (AU).
You use the same email address in Legl and Clio.
Your Clio plan allows third-party apps.

Connect Legl to Clio Manage
An Admin in Clio completes these steps once for your firm.
Step 1: Open the Clio Manage settings
Select Integrations in the left-hand menu. On the Overview tab, select Get started on the Clio Manage card.
Step 2: Turn on Clio Manage
The Manage tab opens on Connectors. Turn on the Clio Manage toggle.
Step 3: Choose your Clio Manage region
In Choose your Clio Manage region, select the region where your Clio Manage account is hosted: Europe (EU) or Australia (AU). Then select Continue.
Make sure you log in to a Clio account for the region you choose. For example, if you choose AU, log in to your AU Clio account. If the region doesn't match, Clio shows an "Invalid authorization request" error.
Step 4: Sign in to Clio Manage & allow access
Clio opens. Sign in with your usual Clio email address and password.
Step 5: Return to Legl
You return to Legl, and the Clio Manage toggle is turned on. Legl adds the Legl custom fields and the Legl option to contacts in Clio.
Check the integration is working
In Legl
On the Manage tab, select Check Permissions. Each permission that you have in Clio should have a tick.
ā
In Clio
Go to App integrations > My integrations. Legl shows under Connected app integrations.
Then open a contact in Clio and select More actions > Legl > New onboarding or KYC workflow. What opens in Legl depends on the type of contact.
Individual contact
The contact needs a first name, last name and email address. Legl opens the Create Engage request drawer, with the contact's details filled in.
Company contact
The contact needs a company name. Legl opens a business search for that company.
Onboarding checklist
Below the Check Permissions button, the Clio Manage onboarding checklist shows how far setup has got. It shows Incomplete until the integration has been used.
After you start a workflow from a Clio contact, the remaining items are ticked.
ā¹ļø Important
The Workflow(s) item stays unticked at the moment. This does not affect the integration. If you can start a workflow from a Clio contact, the integration is working.
What happens next
Contacts in Clio show the Legl custom fields: Link to Legl workflow, Legl workflow result, Legl workflow status and Link to Legl contact.
You can start onboarding (KYC) checks and business checks from a Clio contact.
You can set up disbursements to add the cost of each check to a Clio matter as an expense.

Use the same email address in Legl and Clio, and stay logged in to Legl as the user who connected Clio.
Each Legl account connects to one Clio account per region.
Clio Manage and Actionstep can't be connected to the same Legl account at the same time.
