Overview
The Legl and Clio Manage integration brings together best-in-class legal practice management and intelligent compliance workflows in one seamless experience. You can streamline client onboarding and embed intelligent AML workflows directly into your practice management system.
By combining Clio's legal platform with Legl's AI-powered compliance tools, you can automate checks, speed up due diligence, and give fee earners and clients a better experience. You start onboarding (KYC) checks and business checks from a contact in Clio, then see the status, result and documents back on that contact. If you set up disbursements, the cost of each check is added to the Clio matter automatically once it is reviewed.
The result is less manual work, stronger compliance and better conversion, all in one workflow.
What you can use the integration for
Start a Legl Engage request from a Clio contact, with the contact's name and email address filled in for you
Run a business check from a company contact in Clio
See the status and result of each check on the Clio contact
Keep the report and documents from each completed check in a Legl folder on the Clio contact
See ongoing monitoring alert status on the Clio contact
Add the cost of each check to a Clio matter as an expense, using disbursements
How the integration works
An Admin in Clio connects Legl to Clio Manage from the Integrations page in Legl. This adds the Legl custom fields and a Legl option to contacts in Clio.
You open a contact in Clio and select More actions > Legl > New onboarding or KYC workflow.
Legl opens with the contact's details filled in. For an individual, you choose a workflow and send the Engage request. For a company, Legl opens a business search for that company.
As your client completes the request, the Legl custom fields on the Clio contact show the workflow status and result.
When the request is marked as reviewed in Legl, the report and documents are filed to a Legl folder on the Clio contact.
If you have set up disbursements and added a matter reference to the request, the cost of the check is added to the Clio matter as an expense.
What stays in Legl
The integration sends information from Legl to Clio. Some things are not part of it:
Checks started in Legl, rather than from a Clio contact, are not sent to Clio.
Client details collected in Legl, such as date of birth or address, are not written to the Clio contact. They are in the PDF report.
Risk assessments and payment requests can't be started from Clio. A workflow that includes a payment step can.
You review results and ongoing monitoring alerts in Legl.
