Overview
Risk rules let your firm apply its own risk policy to every Engage request automatically. Each rule says what should happen when a client's submission matches something in your policy. For example, if a client selects a country other than the UK, Legl can automatically ask them for two forms of ID.
Risk rules work with your client. When something does not meet your policy, Legl asks the client to put it right while they are completing their request, so your team does not have to go back and forth with them.
What you can use Risk rules for
Ask clients based outside the UK for two forms of identity
Ask for the correct identity document when a client uploads one your policy does not accept, such as a provisional driving licence
Ask for a different or additional proof of address
Flag results for your team to review, such as a client based in a high-risk country
Upload your risk policy so Legl can recommend rules that match it
How Risk rules work
Each rule has a trigger and an action. For example: WHEN a client's passport is past its expiry date, THEN ask for the correct identity document.
Client help text: when a rule asks the client to put something right, the client sees a short message explaining why. Each rule has a default message, which you can edit.
Document retry attempts: you choose how many times a client can submit an identity or proof of address document before the request is sent for review. The first submission counts as an attempt, and the default is 3.
Additional checks: each time a client resubmits a document, an additional check runs at your standard rates.
ℹ️ Further guidance
Where to find Risk rules in Legl
Select Governance in the left-hand menu, then Risk rules. There are three tabs:
Overview: the rules triggered over the last 7 days, and how many of your available rules are live
Rules: every rule you can use, grouped by area. You can search and filter by area or status, and see whether each rule is On or Available.
Configure: upload your risk policy and set your document retry attempts
Permissions and access
Admins can turn rules on, edit them and upload your risk policy.
Other users can open Risk rules to see which rules your firm has turned on, but they cannot change them.
Important information
Risk rules is a paid add-on. To get started, select Get a quote on the Governance page and our team will be in touch.
A rule starts working as soon as it is turned on.
Saving a rule without turning it on keeps your changes, and the rule stays Available.
