How to bulk screen all company shareholders and directors

Screen every director, shareholder, and PSC in a company's structure at once from the Structure & ownership tab.

Written by Ula Moyse-White

Overview

You can screen every individual and entity in a company's corporate structure in a single action, instead of screening directors and shareholders one at a time.

This covers directors, shareholders (including indirect shareholders), and persons with significant control (PSCs) shown in a company's Structure & ownership tab.

You would use this when onboarding a business and you want to run AML or sanctions checks across its full ownership structure in one step, rather than screening each person or entity individually.

Before you start

  • You must have access to Engage for Businesses.

  • A Company Report must have been run so that directors, shareholders, and PSCs are visible in the Structure & ownership tab.

  • Anyone already screened in the last 30 days is automatically excluded from the list, so check the "last screened" note before assuming someone still needs to be screened.

How to bulk screen all shareholders and directors

  1. Go to Engage > Businesses.

  2. Select the relevant business, then click View next to the Company Report.

  3. Go to the Structure & ownership tab.

  4. Click Screen all, in the top right of the tab or next to the org chart, to open the Screen corporate structure panel.

  5. Review the list of individuals and entities shown. Each row shows Name, Type (Individual or Business), Role, Date of birth (for individuals, where available), and Result.

  6. Optionally narrow the list using the filters: Show only >0% ownership, Show only ≥25% ownership, or Reset view to clear any filters.

  7. Select who you want to screen using the checkboxes. You can select everyone in the list or just a subset. Anyone already screened in the last 30 days is excluded automatically, with a note showing when they were last screened.

  8. Add a matter reference (optional).

  9. Assign a reviewer (optional).

  10. Add a note for the reviewer (optional).

  11. Click Submit.

ℹ️ Important

Each screening is charged individually.

What happens next

Each submitted check runs instantly and moves from pending to completed, with a View action to open the result once it's ready. Screening does not notify the individuals or entities involved.

Individuals you select receive a full AML screen. Companies and other entities you select receive a sanctions and watchlist check only, and this does not include credit risk, financials, or legal events.

Important information

  • Individuals get a full AML screen; companies and other entities get a sanctions and watchlist check only, with no credit risk, financials, or legal events included.

  • Entities are matched using name and date of birth, where available. This matching is not perfect, so the same individual can occasionally appear more than once in the list, for example if a director record has no date of birth but a shareholder record for the same person does, or if their name is recorded slightly differently between roles. This is a deliberate tradeoff, since it is safer to risk screening someone twice than to miss screening them.

  • Anyone already screened in the last 30 days is automatically excluded from the list, with a note showing when they were last screened, so you will not duplicate a recent check.

  • Each person or entity you screen is billed as a standard check.

  • Screening does not notify the individuals or entities involved.
