Overview
A Request a signature step lets you collect an e-signature from your client as part of an Engage workflow. When you add the step, you choose how the document is provided: upload it each time you send, or store a document on the workflow so it can be reused. This guide covers how to add the step and how to choose the right document option.
Before you start
Only Administrators can create or edit workflows in Legl.
Have the document you want signed ready to upload.
How to add an e-signature step to a workflow
Navigate to Engage > Workflows and click Create new Workflow, or Edit an existing workflow.
Click Add step, then choose Request a signature.
Add a step name, description, and document name so your client understands the purpose of the document.
Under Signature type, select Standard e-signature.
Under How would you like to provide the document?, choose one of the options below.
Click Add to workflow, then save the workflow.
How to provide the document on the signature step
When you add or edit a Request a signature step, select Standard e-signature, then choose how to provide the document:
No document on the workflow (the default) — upload and tag the document when you create the Engage request. Good for individual, customised documents that do not need many tags.
Or store a document on the workflow so it can be reused:
Upload and tag a document — upload a PDF and tag it yourself. Legl opens an editor for you to add your tags, and you set the number of signers. Good for general forms that are the same for every client.
Use a tagged document — upload a pre-tagged PDF (tagged with Dropbox Sign tags, not Adobe), or reuse a document from a previous workflow. Good for forms you have already tagged, such as TA forms. See How to pre-tag documents for e-signatures for how to prepare one.
Important information
Uploading a document each time you send is the default, and is unchanged.
A document you store on the workflow can be reused on other workflows without tagging it again.
Your client's signing experience is the same whichever option you choose.
Documents must be tagged with Dropbox Sign tags. Adobe AcroForms are not supported. If you upload a document without valid signature tagging, Legl will let you know before the request can be sent.
