What to do if you decide not to proceed with your legal matter

What to do if you no longer plan to continue with your legal matter and do not need to complete a request sent via Legl.

Written by Shanté Simpson

Overview

If your law firm has sent you a request through Legl and you have decided not to continue with your legal matter, you do not need to complete the request. You will need to let your law firm know directly so they can close it on your behalf.

What to do next

If you no longer wish to proceed:

  1. Contact your law firm directly
Let them know that you have decided not to continue with the legal matter.

  2. Ask the firm to close the request
Your law firm can close the request in Legl, which will stop any further reminders.

What happens after you take action

Once your law firm closes the request, you will no longer receive reminders. If you change your mind and decide to proceed later, your law firm can reissue the request if needed.

Important information

  • You cannot close or cancel a request yourself in Legl. This must be done by your law firm.

  • Reminders may continue until the law firm closes the request.

  • If you are unsure whether you still need to complete the request, your law firm can confirm the status and advise on next steps.
