iManage Advanced settings

Optional settings on the iManage integration for firms that need more than the default filing setup.

When to use Advanced settings

Use Advanced settings only if your firm has agreed a process that needs them. They are iManage-only, sit under Advanced on the iManage card in Document Management settings, and default to off.

For the main setup (library, custom fields, folder routing, autofill, document attributes), see iManage integration: setup and usage.

You'll need Legl admin permissions and an active iManage connection.

Where to find them

  1. Go to Settings → Integrations.

  2. Open Document Management and select the iManage card.

  3. Expand Advanced at the bottom of the card.

These options do not appear on NetDocuments.

Automatically mark clear results as reviewed

When enabled, every Engage request with an overall clear result is marked as Reviewed by the person you choose under Reviewer for automatically reviewed results — without anyone at your firm opening the request.

Your firm remains responsible for the review decision. Only enable this if it is part of an agreed process.

Once a request is auto-reviewed and a workspace is linked (manually, via autofill, or via reference mapping), its documents file to iManage the same way as after a manual review.

If the chosen reviewer can no longer review the request, or it needs escalator sign-off, Legl leaves it for a person rather than attributing the review to someone else.

Also mark clear business sanctions reports as reviewed

This option only appears when the Engage auto-review toggle is on. When enabled, overall-clear business sanctions reports are also marked Reviewed by the same reviewer.

On that path, Legl can file the sanctions report — and, where available, the related company report (and financials) — into the business’s linked iManage workspace.

You cannot auto-review clear sanctions reports without also enabling auto-review for Engage requests.

Reference mappings (Engage and KYB)

Use these when the codes on Legl records are not the same values iManage searches for on workspaces — for example when a Legl matter code AIM0001-0001 should search iManage for client AIM0001.

There are two separate mappings:

  • Engage request reference mapping — transforms client and matter references on Engage requests before workspace search / autofill.

  • KYB reference mapping — transforms client and matter references on business sanctions reports before workspace search / autofill.

How to configure a mapping

  1. Optionally set a Legl client reference pattern and/or Legl matter reference pattern.
This is a regular expression matched against the whole reference. It must define the named groups (?P<prefix>…) and (?P<suffix>…). Leave blank to use the whole reference.

  2. Choose what to search for in iManage’s Client and Matter fields — for example Client reference: suffix, Matter reference: prefix, or Don't search this field.
You can add up to three fallbacks per field; Legl uses the first value that is available.

  3. Use Test a reference with sample values to preview the split and the resulting iManage search values before saving.

Manual typed searches in the Set Workspace modal are unchanged. Mappings apply to autofill and automatic workspace resolution for that context.

Leave both mappings empty if Legl references already match your iManage aliases.

Fixed Workspace Search Attributes (iManage)

Up to 3 custom-property values added to every workspace search, so filing only resolves one kind of workspace (for example custom2 = client for client workspaces).

Pick each attribute from your selected library’s custom attributes and give it a fixed value.

A Client or Matter Reference filter on the same attribute wins over the fixed value. Use this when client and matter workspaces share a client code and you need the search narrowed to one workspace type.

FAQ

Who can change Advanced settings?
Legl admin users with iManage connected. Changes are audited like other Document Management settings.

Do Advanced settings affect NetDocuments?
No. They only appear on the iManage card.

What counts as a “clear” result for auto-review?

The same overall clear outcome shown on the review screen — ready for review, with no findings that need attention or escalation.

Our Legl codes don’t match iManage — which mapping should we use?
Engage requests → Engage request reference mapping. Business sanctions reports → KYB reference mapping. Configure both if both products need it.

Will Fixed Workspace Search Attributes override what someone types in the workspace search?

No. If a Client or Matter Reference is already filtering the same attribute, that reference wins and the fixed value is skipped for that search.
