Overview
The NetDocuments integration links Legl with your firm’s document management system. It allows documents created in Legl to be saved straight into NetDocuments, without users needing to download or upload files manually.
This helps law firms keep compliance and onboarding documents stored securely, consistently, and in the right place.
What you can use the NetDocuments integration for
You can use the NetDocuments integration to:
Save documents from Legl directly into NetDocuments
Make sure documents are filed against the correct client or matter
Reduce manual filing and repeated admin work
Avoid documents being saved locally or uploaded to the wrong workspace
Keep a clear and complete audit trail in NetDocuments
How the NetDocuments integration works
Legl is used to run onboarding and compliance tasks, such as identity checks and document collection. NetDocuments remains the place where your firm stores and manages documents.
When the integration is enabled, documents created in Legl can be sent to a selected NetDocuments workspace. This is usually linked using a client or matter reference, so documents are saved to the correct location automatically.
Users do not need to leave Legl or upload files themselves.
Where to find the NetDocuments integration in Legl
The NetDocuments integration is connected through the Integrations page in Legl.
Users can then interact with the integration when working with Engage requests or company reports, where they can set or update the NetDocuments workspace used for document storage and send documents directly.
Permissions and access
Configuration of the NetDocuments integration is typically managed by Admin users of Legl and NetDocuments.
Once configured, day-to-day use of the integration (such as sending documents to NetDocuments) follows your firm’s existing permissions and governance within NetDocuments.
Important information
Important:
NetDocuments remains the system of record for document storage. The integration does not replace or duplicate NetDocuments functionality.
Documents are saved directly into NetDocuments rather than being stored locally or downloaded manually.
The integration supports consistency and audit readiness but does not change your firm’s internal document access controls.
