Step 1: Accessing the CDD Request
Once you send your client their unique link, they will open the CDD request, which will feature your law firm’s branding on the left-hand side.
The request will outline who it is for, and clients will have visibility of Legl's terms of use and the privacy policy.
Step 2: Client Information
Clients will have the following elements pre-populated as this was submitted when the request was created:
First name
Last name
Email address
After this, they can fill in their address and any other relevant details.
Step 3: Identity Verification Check
After entering their details, clients will continue to the identity verification check. If they do not have a government-issued ID, they will be redirected to your firm for guidance on alternative options.
For Clients with ID:
They should select the option to continue and follow the prompts to upload their ID. Important instructions include:
Use a photograph (no scanning or printing)
Ensure the ID is government-issued
Avoid glare and keep the camera focused
Enable both the camera and microphone
Suggested to use the Chrome Browser
Clients will then select their issuing country and upload their ID (e.g., passport or driver’s license).
Step 4: Uploading ID via Mobile
If clients prefer to complete the process on their mobile devices, they can select "Continue on phone" to receive a secure link. They can either scan the screen or copy the link to continue on their mobile device.
Step 5: Biometric Selfie Verification
Once the ID is uploaded, clients will be asked to complete a biometric selfie video to verify their identity. The process includes:
Recording their face while looking left and right.
Additional Proof of Address
If your workflow requires it, clients can upload an additional piece of address verification. This can be done via:
PDF or JPEG upload
Drag-and-drop into the designated box
Click box and select relevant document
Step 6: Submission
Once all information is completed and the client is satisfied, they can submit their request. A green tick will confirm successful submission.
Step 7: Notification
After submission, your law firm will receive an email notification confirming that the client has completed their request.
